Registration
Swiss citizens living abroad must register with the nearest Swiss representation. They may visit the Embassy of Switzerland in Pretoria or the Consulate General of Switzerland in Cape Town on any working day between 9.00 a.m. and noon. They must bring along their Swiss passports and identity cards as well as the Swiss passports and identity cards of their family plus their deregistration letter (Abmeldebescheinigung) of the town or village commune where they last were registered plus the "Heimatschein" if they have one. If Swiss citizens are unable to come to the Embassy, they may contact the Embassy or the Consulate in writing or by telephone indicating their exact address. The necessary forms and documentation will then be forwarded to them.
