The Consular Section at the Embassy of Switzerland in Beijing, the Swiss Consulate General in Shanghai and the Swiss Consulate General in Guangzhou will be pleased to assist you at any time. Should you require additional information concerning the subjects dealt with in this website, other subjects, or further information for Swiss citizens living in China, please contact us by e-mail or telephone (Embassy / Consulate General).
The consular district of the Swiss Embassy in Beijing includes all Provinces of the People’s Republic of China - except: Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui (Swiss Consulate in Shanghai) and Guangdong, Fujian, Hainan, Guangxi, Hunan, Jiangxi (Swiss Consulate in Guangzhou) - and the countries of Mongolia and North Korea.
The following persons should register with their local Swiss mission abroad:
- Swiss citizens who intend to stay in the consular district for more than 12 months;
- Swiss citizens who acquire Swiss nationality by birth, naturalisation or adoption and who are already living in the consular district.
The register is intended to give an overall picture of Swiss nationals living in the consular district. Registration, which is obligatory, also provides the details required for the fulfilment of official functions, such as issuing new passports, registering births, marriages etc.
It is possible to register in person (Mon-Fri 9.00-12.00) or by post. Please bring along or send the completely filled out and signed downloadable application form together with the original Swiss passports and ID cards of all family members, the certificate of origin (Familienschein, acte de famille) and for those who are subject to military service obligations the document "leave of absence abroad" (Auslandurlaub, congé pour l'étranger).
The Embassy in Beijing, the Consulate General in Shanghai or the Consulate General in Guangzhou should be notified without delay of any change of address either by e-mail, fax, post card or letter.
The Embassy or the Consulate General will then be able to change your address for the mailing of:
