Swiss Week 2011 in Kuala Lumpur

Swiss Week 2011 is aiming to create higher awareness of Switzerland in Malaysia. Apart from showcasing Switzerland as a touristic destination, it will also provide a platform to promote Swiss culinary, culture and education. This event is also held in conjunction with Hotel Equatorial’s ‘Exquisitely Swiss’ promotion.


Highlights of this promotion include

  • Special Swiss culinary brought to you by our guest chef, Mr. Fritz Tschantre specially flown in by Lufthansa, all the way from Zurich to the Swiss Restaurant Chalet at the Hotel Equatorial KL. There will be lucky draw for diners who order the special menu at Chalet for the month of October with a winning prize of a week trip to Switzerland worth RM 34,000 and other prizes i.e. a RADO watch worth RM 3,500, Lindt Chocolate and Hamper from Nestle.
  • Showcasing of Switzerland as a touristic destination, featuring Lucerne and its region, Engelberg and Titlis Rotair at Hotel Equatorial 
  • Education booth display by KDU University College and IMI Swiss Hotel Management School
  • Swiss Cooking class by Chef Fritz Tschantre on 29 October
    Time: 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
    Price : MYR 120.00++ per person inclusive of lunch and materials
  • Swiss cooking competition at KDU University College on 25 October

Exhibition of Cornelia Patthey’s artworks in Art Expo Malaysia 2011

 In conjunction with the International Year of the Forests, the Embassy of Switzerland is proud to present part of the “Genealogy” large formats collection by artist Cornelia Patthey. Her approach to trees by using walnut stain, natural inks and water-based colors reflects Switzerland commitment for the conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests, this for the benefit of current and future generations.

The 12th European Union Film Festival in Kuala Lumpur and Penang

This is the 1st year Switzerland is taking part in the European Union Film which is an annual event which showcases a collection of films from all over Europe. The film festival, now in its 12th year in Malaysia, is an insight into the intriguing world of European cinema.

The festival will be held from 10 - 20 November in Kuala Lumpur and 24 - 30 November in Penang.

Switzerland will be showcasing a comedy titled ‘Tandoori Love’, directed by Oliver Paulus. The screenings will be in GSC Mid Valley Megamall, GSC Pavillion KL, GSC 1 Utama and GSC Gurney Plaza.

Rusconi in Kuala Lumpur and Penang

The Swiss band Rusconi respond to Sonic Youth’s complex structures with great simplicity, which is just the right strategy. Neither do they break the songs down, nor do they justify them for a jazz audience. Instead, they casually reinterpret jazz in the spirit of rock music. Rusconi rock!

Starch in Kuala Lumpur

It’s hard to find an appropriate words for the music the seven creative heads of Starch are inventing in their swiss mountain hotel. They use the soundtrack of a generation grown up simultaneously with rock, hiphop and funk to create their own highly energetic music.

Swiss Design in Hollywood


An exhibition & seminar organised by The One Academy in collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland, Pro Helvetia and MDeC was held on 18-20 June at e@Curve and Royale Bintang Hotel respectively. This event featured the best Swiss designers and their works in major Hollywood productions. The exhibition kicked off with an international design seminar presented by two notable Swiss digital artists, Nicolas Imhof and Christian Scheurer. More than 200 participants consists of students, teachers and public audience attended the 1 day seminar were intrigued by the works shown by the leading Swiss designers.

The collaboration presented an invaluable opportunity for aspiring animator and digital artists to learn from some of the world's best professionals as well as an interesting platform to promote intercultural exchange. This event also provide an opportunity to showcase the innovative and artistic dimension of Switzerland.

Swiss Malaysian Cultural Afternoon

 
KDU College hosted a seminar cum high tea for Swiss students and lecturers from the Lucerne school of Tourism, University of Applied Science & Arts on 14th April 2010. This activity was organised in collaborations with the Embassy of Switzerland and Tourism Malaysia. The seminar was held with the objectives of promoting cultural & tourism exchange between Switzerland & Malaysia as well as providing a platform for the Swiss & Malaysian students to present their knowledge & skills respectively.
