Lost or stolen Swiss Passport / ID-Card ?

If a Swiss passport is lost or stolen abroad, the nearest Swiss diplomatic or consular representation should be informed as soon as possible. A lost or stolen passport/identity card must be reported to the nearest police station in order to obtain a written police report. A copy thereof must be submitted to the Swiss representation.

If a new passport is required, a passport application and a statement provided by the Swiss representation have to be completed. By signing the statement, the applicant acknowledges, among other things, that a Swiss national may possess only one valid Swiss passport. If the lost passport is recovered, it must be returned immediately to the nearest Swiss representation abroad or passport office in Switzerland.

Swiss passports which have been lost or stolen are entered in an official search list and should therefore not be used if they are recovered.

The Malaysian authorities informed this Embassy, that any loss of passport has to be reported to the Immigration Department in order to guarantee a secure departure.
