Visa for students
For Non-Malaysian passport holders
In order to obtain an authorisation to enter Switzerland as a student, the following documents have to be submitted to the Embassy :
- Visa application form duly filled and signed by applicant (available from the Embassy or can be downloaded from the website of the Federal Office for Migration)
- 3 photos, passport size
- 3 copies of the national passport, 1st page and a copy of the student visa for Malaysia
- 1 original and 2 copies of the "Letter of Acceptance" from the Swiss University, School etc.
- 3 copies proof of pre-paid school fees
- 3 copies of confirmation of school that tuition fees have been paid
- 3 copies proof of sufficient funds to cover the costs of the stay, such as bank statements, saving books, etc. (at least for the period of one year)
- 3 copies of the diplomas, certificates
- Curriculum vitae
- Written engagement to leave Switzerland after the studies
- Information about the knowledge of a Swiss language or English
- Motivation letter
The Cantonal Foreign Police as the competent Swiss authority has the right to ask additional documents.
The application should be made at the Embassy at least 3 months before the school starts. The visa fee is € 60.-- payable in Ringgit Malaysia only.
For Malaysian passport holders
Malaysian passport holders do not require a visa. However, they have to submit the above mentioned documents through their schools directly to the Cantonal Foreign Police. If the application is approved the cantonal authorities issue a document called “Authorization to enter Switzerland as a student”. The school should forward a copy thereof to the applicant. The student must be in possession of this document when entering Switzerland.
