Swiss Community in Singapore

Singapore is often the first stop for Swiss businesses wanting to gain a foothold in Asia. The Swiss community in this vibrant city state, which boasts one of the highest living standards in Asia, consists of many successful and hard-working business people. Members of the Swiss community in Singapore are actively involved in many sectors of the Singaporean economy including finance, trade, retail, and the hospitality industry.

The Swiss community has been steadily growing over the last few years and is expected to increase in the future. At the end of 2010, over 2’500 Swiss nationals were registered with the Swiss Embassy, making Singapore the second most popular destination for Swiss expatriates in Asia after Thailand.

Swiss nationals transferred to Singapore by their companies usually reside in Singapore for a few years before being relocated; either to another destination or back to Switzerland. The Embassy estimates that a turnover of the Swiss community takes place every three to four years with only a small number of people staying in Singapore for more than five years.

The Consular team of the Embassy of Switzerland is happy to assist the Swiss Community in every possible way. We encourage Swiss citizens in this consular district to play an active role in "Swiss life" abroad. Join the Swiss Club or the Swiss Association and attend Swiss events such as our National Day celebration; be an active member of the Swiss Business Association and stay in touch with the Embassy of Switzerland at all times.
