I would like to extend a warm welcome to you on the website of the Swiss Embassy in Bangkok. On this website you can find information on the status and the development of the manifold relationships between the Swiss Confederation and Thailand. We inform you about the services of the embassy, whether in the consular area, in business inquiries or on cultural issues. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the embassy immediately:  ban.vertretung@eda.admin.ch.

Here you can also find information about Switzerland. How modern this country is, can already be seen on this website. Switzerland is probably the first country that employs a married ambassador couple in a job-sharing post. My husband and I share the work at the embassy with a clear job-sharing method. I am in charge of Thailand and my husband is responsible for Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar, with headquarters in Bangkok.

I am happy to represent the Swiss interests in Thailand and to further maintain and deepen the relationship between these two countries.

The Swiss Ambassador to Thailand.

Dear visitor,

Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar adventure holidays, traveling on the Mekong, wide rice fields, pagodas and friendly people everywhere. An ever increasing number of Swiss people discover the natural and cultural treasures of this region. I wish all of them memorable experiences, accident-free traveling and a good time. However, often the holiday mood is spoiled: diseases and accidents, for instance, so far away from our familiar environment, are events that can quickly result in grave and complicated situations. The embassy, with its headquarters in Bangkok, will do its utmost best to help you in such situations. However, this does not free you from self-responsibility. Traveling to Cambodia, Laos or Myanmar requires appropriate preparations. Our travel advices on the EDA homepage, as well as other sources of information provide you with suggestions and useful tips.

While even a serious preparation cannot totally prevent possible inconveniences, it can surely considerably minimize the probability that such bad things will happen to you.

Switzerland has different political, economical and cultural interests in the countries of Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. I am happy and proud to be allowed to represent those interests. I am committed to further strengthen the bilateral relationships with those countries and to develop the existing contacts in culture, politics and economy.
If you have any suggestions, ideas or comments to this subject, or if you would like to participate and engage yourself with this issue, please do not hesitate to write to me. I would be happy to engage in a constructive and open dialogue with you.

Dear Swiss countrymen and countrywomen, whether you are a tourist or a business person: You are the actual ambassadors of our country. It is you who, through your correct conduct, through your cultural competences and through your winning appearance, can promote a positive picture of our country in those countries. I thank you for this and will do everything possible to also contribute to this cause.

Your

Christoph Burgener
Swiss Ambassador to Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar
