Transit visa
For applicants entering Switzerland/Austria/Schengen area only on their onward travel. The transit visa allows the holder to remain in the Schengen area for a maximum of up to 5 days (visa type A / Schengen visa application form).
Conditions:
- Be able to continue the journey, having all the necessary visas for the country of destination
- Have a valid ticket
Requirements:
- Application form duly completed and signed by the applicant (applications which are not fully completed dated and signed will not be accepted).
- Passport valid for at least three months after the date when the holder leaves Switzerland/Austria/Schengen area and issued within the last 10 years.
- Copy of the applicant's passport (page with photo/name and if applicable prolongation).
- Copies of other valid visas.
- 2 passport photographs (35 - 40mm in width, sharp focus and clear, close-up of head and neck, undamaged, not older than 6 months). Pictures not meeting the requirements will be refused.
- Confirmed ticket to the next country outside Schengen area (original plus copy).
Please note that Georgian and Armenian passport holders do not need an airport-transit visa when changing flights in Swiss/Austria/Schengen area airports. However, the nationals of some other States do. If you are neither a Georgian nor an Armenian citizen and plan a trip via Switzerland, please visit the website of the Federal Office for Migration (
www.bfm.admin.ch) where you can find the necessary information.
First-time applicants have to apply in person.
