We are happy to inform you that in the Museum of Fine Arts (Budapest, 1146 Budapest, Dózsa György út 41.) the exhibition will open on 20 March 2012.
The multifarious Erker complex in St. Gallen became one of the defining centres of gravity for international, contemporary fine arts movements after the war. It occupies a worthy position among the most advanced Western European contemporary intellectual centres for the fine arts thanks to its exhibitions, publishing activities, fine arts studio, total art events (artists’ colony, meet the artist events, readings, lectures, dinners, etc.).
The exhibition seeks to present the complexity of the Erker phenomenon, its heyday (1962-1987) and the work of the artists who visited it and to emphasise its importance in art history. The show serves as a good opportunity to make this little known intellectual centre of total art (fine arts, literature, music, philosophy) more widely popular by showcasing fine arts and literary works as well as original recordings and archive photos.
You can visit the exhibition with the exception of Mondays, until 1 July 2012, from 10 am to 6 pm.

The Swiss film “La petite chambre” by Stéphanie Chuat and Véronique Reymond is a story of the heart. Edmond's is no longer strong. But it still beats with an independence which fights against the very idea of entering a retirement home, while at the same time refusing help from Rose, his home carer. Nonetheless she stands up to him. She knows the tumult that a heart undergoes when it is forced to accept the unacceptable. Hers hasn't yet healed. One day however, a bad fall forces Edmond to accept Rose's support.

Bringing his wealth of experience that has seen him release on labels from Music Man to Green to Rejected to Circus Company to Versatile, he has created something truly inspirational.
Over recent years, Sam Geiser aka Deetron has emerged as a rising star in the electronic musical world. His popularity as producer has flourished in tandem with his reputation as a dynamic DJ, and as the latter discipline propelled him across the globe, his work for a growing roster of record labels further cemented his position as a genuine talent within the International scene.
Born in Bern, Switzerland, music was a constant in the Geiser family home. Sam's father's activities as a jazz musician ensured that he was surrounded by music from a very early age, sowing the seeds of his own musical interests. But it was hip-hop that encouraged this to flourish into an active involvement in music, during his teens. In 1994, he got his first big break: securing a residency at Zurich's reputed club, Trax at Rohstofflager. Having reached this position, Sam felt it was time to make his own forays into music production and began building a studio, drawing on his experience as a DJ to create his own tracks. Things snowballed from that moment onwards, and Deetron has become a famous and respected producer and DJ with his warm techno sound infused by the soul of Detroit.

Does the design culture of different countries have unique characteristics? Can we define unequivocally typical national features in 2011, in an irrelievably globalizing world? We have tried to answer these questions with the help of the design experts of some thirty countries by selecting from the works created in the past three years. The answers arrived in the form of three objects per country – also from Switzerland - representing a wide range of local colours.
Visitors of Design Week's international opening exhibition can decide whether cultural and geographical background, history, couleur locale and traditions are sources of inspiration reflected in the work of contemporary designers in deed.

As an artist, sculptor, architect and typographer he showed a social responsibility and environmental awareness right through his life. His views have become incredibly topical. His son, Jakob Bill (1942- ) fascinates with his geometrical structures. The youngest of the family, David Bill (1976- ) creates concrete, kinetic and
constructive sculptures.

Further environmental projects will start soon implementation in the framework of the Swiss-Hungarian Co-operation Programme. Support agreements for the two projects were signed on 20 January 2011 in the presence of Hungarian Minister of National Development Dr Tamás Fellegi and Swiss Minister of Economic Affairs Johann Schneider-Ammann. The approximately CHF 11 million contribution may be used for updating environment protection monitoring systems in the near future.
Pursuant to its bilateral agreement concluded with the European Commission in 2006, Switzerland will grant altogether CHF 1 billion as non-refundable support to the ten Member States that joined the European Union in 2004. Under the Hungarian-Swiss Co-operation Programme signed in December 2007, Hungary will receive HUF 25 billion non-refundable support for reducing regional economic and social disparities.
One of the two projects supported under the signed agreement serves the improvement of the National Air Pollution Measurement Network through updating the air quality surveillance system and the laboratory background. The approved grant amount is CHF 5.7 million.
The other project will improve the monitoring system of the Central Danube Valley Environmental, Nature Conservation and Water Management Inspectorate in order to prevent the evolution of environmental damages and thus protect the health of the population, the fauna and the flora. The amount approved as a grant exceeds CHF 5 million.
The Hungarian Minister of National Development Dr Tamás Fellegi and Swiss Minister of Economic Affairs Johann Schneider-Ammann were both present at the contract signing. In his keynote address Mr Johann Schneider-Ammann said: “Switzerland is particularly satisfied to support such projects in the area of environment, which will improve the quality of live of a great member of people”.
At the press conference Dr Tamás Fellegi reminded the participants that environmental projects improved the general state of the environment, surveyed eventual pollution and prevented the evolution of health hazards. Hopefully, the efficient co-operation established between the two governments in the framework of this programme will extend beyond the time frame of these agreements. “Hungary takes the opportunity to express its gratitude for the outstanding support,” the Minister of National Development added.

Press Release of the Swiss Contribution Office
11th of November 2010
Within the framework of the Swiss-Hungarian Cooperation Programme almost 25 million CHF or 5 billion HUF funding have been awarded for the development of the water supply infrastructure. Four investments projects can commence in Ózd, Balassagyarmat, Érd and thirteen small settlements in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county. The ceremonial signature of the Project Agreements were concluded between the Swiss and Hungarian authorities yesterday.
Focus area 3 of the Swiss-Hungarian Cooperation Programme was available to proposals related to the rehabilitation and modernization of basic infrastructure and improvement of the environment. Based on the amended Framework Agreement 35.738 million CHF were available.
Following an open call and two rounds of project assessment by the Hungarian Swiss side, Switzerland took in August a positive funding decision about four water supply projects and in October 2010 about two environmental monitoring projects. The National Development Agency notified the water project applicants in September 2010. In October the four Project Agreements were negotiated and finally signed yesterday, 10 November 2010 in the presence of Deputy State Secretary Györgyi Nyikos from the Development Ministry and Swiss Ambassador Christian Mühlethaler. Present were also the Management of the National Development Agency and the Head of the Swiss Contribution Office Liliana de Sá Kirchknopf.
As a result, drinking water will be supplied to previously unserved areas of Ózd, and the network will also be renewed and modernised. The Balassagyarmat project will focus on the improvement of operational safety of the municipal drinking water network and the establishment of water resources management. The Érd project will improve the security of water supply to the town. Due to the investment project of the thirteen settlements in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, old and obsolete cement asbestos water pipes will be replaced, and Sima and Emőd-Adorján-tanya settlements will finally be supplied with drinking water.
A pilot Integrity Pact – the first in the Swiss Contribution - will be introduced in the framework of the Ózd project aiming at an independent monitoring of the whole public procurement procedure as well as project implementation to increase transparency.
The gross amount of source available for Hungary within the Swiss-Hungarian Cooperation Programme is 130,738,000 CHF or about 25 billion HUF. Half of the amount has been committed in 17 projects so far.

Press release
This press release is being issued with the support of the Embassies of Belgium, France, Germany, Japan, Norway, Switzerland, The Netherlands, The United Kingdom and The United States. We represent countries whose companies provide the majority of Hungary's foreign direct investment.
As friends of Hungary who have witnessed its recent difficulties and its concerted efforts to tackle the effects of the global economic crisis, we look forward to the recent encouraging predictions of renewed economic growth in Hungary becoming a reality.
An important component of that predicted growth will reflect the decisions taken by current and potential foreign investors, many of whom come from the countries we represent. It is therefore with great concern that we hear of significant new instances of non-transparent behaviour affecting investors in such areas as public utilities, broadcasting, and elements of the nation's transport infrastructure. These reports could hinder the investment for which Hungary, like every other country, is competing.
As the global economy recovers, foreign investors will make their own decisions about where they will commit their resources. As friends of Hungary, we hope that the investment climate here remains one that makes the nation an attractive destination for those resources, rather than the opposite.
Transparency can be a critical competitive advantage. Passing, implementing and enforcing new anti-corruption legislation could be an important factor in helping meet the aspirations of Hungary’s citizens for renewed economic growth, and prosperity.
The Hungarian Framework Agreement signed in Bern on 20 December 2007
On 20 December 2007, the President of the Confederation and head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Micheline Calmy-Rey and Federal Councillor and head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) Doris Leuthard signed the ten bilateral framework agreements with the States that joined the European Union on 1 May 2004: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Cyprus. This means that Switzerland will be able to start applying the Contribution from the beginning of 2008. For more information, please click on the links on the right side.
The Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia, Liaison Office in Warsaw also operates in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Anyone from these countries planning to implement an artistic project connected in some way with Switzerland is cordially invited to submit an application. The next deadline is 15th of September 2008.
