Switzerland was present at the Ökoindustria Fair 2009 with a „Swiss Pavilion“ shared by the following 7 companies: ÉAI Magyarország Kht., Gondrand Kft., Holinger AG, KT-Elekronic Kft., STS Sensor Technik Sirnach AG, TBF + Partner AG Consulting Engineers, Turbo AG on 72 sqm. The exhibition took place for the first time and it was organised by the Hungarian Association of Environmental Enterprises (KSZGYSZ) in the Syma Event Hall. A total of 150 exhibitors and 5.230 visitors joined Ökoindustria, which was a good number in respect of the actual situation in the Hungarian Environmental Technology Market.

The „Swiss Pavilion“ was opened officially by the Ambassador of Switzerland Christian Mühlethaler on Wednesday, 18 November, at 14:30 and the first visitor at the Swiss booth was the Hungarian Minister for the Environment, Mr. Imre Szabó.

On the first day of Ökoindustria a series of different presentations were held under the title “Environmental Swissness – Swiss Technology and Know-how in Hungary”. On the occasion of the SWISS Day at Ökoindustria, the Hungarian Association for Environmental Technologies (SVUT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in order to facilitate a cooperation for the development of promotion of their activities.
Furthermore, the Swiss participation was promoted in a special Swiss issue of the Hungarian magazine “Környezetvédelem”, featuring information on the Swiss exhibitors, the “SWISS Pavilion” as well as Swiss environmental technologies in general.

The “Swiss Pavilion” was supported by the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment and the Agency for Promotion of Swiss Exports (OSEC) and by the folloging associations: Federal Office for the Environment FOEN, energie-cluster.ch, HSU (Handelskammer Schweiz-Ungarn), Környezetvédelem, SEC (Chamber of Commerce Switzerland – Central Europe), SVUT, Swissmem, Umweltperspektiven.

In cooperation with the Swiss Embassy, OSEC plans to be present again at ÖKOINDUSTRIA, organized by the Hungarian Environmental Enterprises (KSZGYSZ) in 2011with a “Swiss Pavilion”. KSZGYSZ is a very strong association with about 300 members (environmental servicing companies, consulting firms, engineering offices, producing and purchasing companies of environmental products).
