Swiss Government Scholarships for Russian Citizens

The Scholarship does not cover travel expenses and tuition and/or semester fees, but in many cases universities do not require scholarship holders to pay semester fees (generally around 600.00 CHF per semester).

The Swiss Government provides four types of scholarships for the academic year 2013-2014:

Research scholarships
Research scholarships of 1920.00 CHF monthly are granted for 12 months and are non renewable. Candidates should be max. 35 years old (born after 01.01.1978) and hold at the minimum a Master degree.

PhD scholarships
PhD scholarships of 1920.00 CHF monthly are granted for 3 years. Candidates should be max. 35 years old (born after 01.01.1978) and hold at the minimum a Master degree.

Postdoc scholarships
Scholarships of 3500.00 CHF monthly for post doctorate research are granted for 12 months with a possibility to renew it for 6 months. Applications can be done at the maximum 5 years after PhD.

Arts scholarships for Master programs or research in the art schools and conservatories 
Scholarships of 1920.00 CHF monthly are granted for art students and researchers. Candidates should be max. 35 years old (born after 01.01.1978) and hold at the minimum a Bachelor degree.

Priorities of granting
Priority will be given to applications within the framework of a cooperation program between the applicant’s home academic institution and the chosen Swiss university/Institution.

Application deadline: October, 31st 2012


Exclusion criteria:

  • Arts Master candidates residing in Switzerland for more than 1 year;
  • Application for two or more Swiss universities for getting Swiss Federal Scholarship;
  • Combination of Swiss government scholarship with other scholarships or work contract.

Documents translation and recommendation letters
It is possible to apply in English or any official language of Switzerland. Translations from Russian may be either certified notary or by your home university. Only originals of a certified translation and recommendation letters is accepted in your original application package.

To submit by post
Please send 3 sets of application package (one original application package and its two copies) by October, 31st 2012 (post stamp) to the following address (we advise to use express post service):

Metro "Chistye Prudy / Turgenevskaya / Sretensky Bulvar"
Postbox at the “Chancellery” entrance at Gusyatnikov pereulok (in a black gate)

The application packages with missing documents and ignoring the given application deadline will not be considered.

Please do not put the various documents into plastic sheets or binders and mind the given order of requested documents in the application guidelines.
