Death

In order to register a death with the Swiss authorities, please send the following document at your earliest convenience to the Consulate General of Switzerland in Sydney:

  • Original of the death certificate
  • A prepaid return envelope if you would like to have the original returned to you

Important: please note that death certificates must be certified by the issuing authority not more than 6 months before they are sent for registration. Photocopies or documents certified by a justice of peace or notary public will not be accepted. Death certificates can be obtained from the competent Australian State Registry Office.

Furthermore, should the deceased person's place of origin be the Canton the Vaud, the document must be stamped with an Apostille as requested by the civil registries of Vaud. Documents without Apostille will not be accepted. The original documents sent to the authorities of Vaud will not be returned to you.
