Bilateral relations between Switzerland and the Republic of Fiji
Relations between Switzerland and the Republic of the Fiji Islands are marginal. There is no commercial exchange worth mentioning with this lightly-populated Pacific Island state. Despite this, the universality of Switzerland’s foreign policy led it to establish diplomatic relations with the Fiji Islands in 1989. These are maintained by the Swiss embassy in Wellington, New Zealand. Contact is sporadic, and the two countries occasionally cooperate within a multilateral framework. The Fiji Islands are host to a relatively large Swiss colony, which numbers 32 persons.
