Switzerland and the Council of Europe
The Federal Council has been publishing annual reports on Switzerland’s activities in the Council of Europe in the Federal Journal since 1985. These reports summarise the main developments that took place in the respective years.

The Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs represents Switzerland at the annual meetings of the Committee of Ministers. Switzerland’s Permanent Representative at the Council of Europe represents Switzerland at the regular meetings of minister's delegates and subordinate organs to the Committee of Ministers.

About 20 Swiss nationals – some of them of dual nationality – work in the Secretariat of the Council of Europe or in the Registry of the European Court of Human Rights. At present, the highest-ranking Swiss national is Philippe Boillat, General Director of the DG-HL (Directorate General of Human Rights and Legal Affairs).
