Human Security Network
Security is not about states alone, but also about individuals. Safeguarding the basic needs of men, women and children should be at the core of comprehensive security policies. Likewise, the concept of human security should be a feature of all national and international policies. This is the vision shared by the members of the Human Security Network, a cross-regional group, which includes Austria, Chile, Costa Rica, Greece, Ireland, Jordan, Mali, Norway, Slovenia, Thailand, South Africa as an observer, and Switzerland. The Network is mainly active in the United Nations, but also works in close cooperation with Academia and civil society.
Switzerland is the chair of the Human Security Network.
The following priorities will guide the Network’s activities for the months to come:
• Enhancing the Protection of Civilians
• Strengthening the effectiveness of the Human Rights Mechanisms
• Developing the debate on Peace and Justice
