Switzerland and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime
Switzerland supports the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime’s (UNODC) technical assistance activities in a number of areas related to human security and the rule of law, such as the fight against trafficking in human beings, corruption and money laundering, the strengthening of criminal justice systems and the rule of law in the fight against terrorism. It is a member of the informal Major Donors’ Group.
Switzerland is an active member of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (for the period 2008 to 2011) and participates as an observer in the work of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. Switzerland is a State party to the Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and its protocols against trafficking in human beings and smuggling of migrants, as well as a signatory of the Convention against Corruption. It participates actively in the work of the Conferences of Parties of these conventions, particularly regarding the implementation of these conventions and the recovery of illegally obtained assets.
